Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation is intended for patients who presented with a cardiovascular event (myocardial infarction, cardiac surgery or heart failure). This treatment is to be started immediately after the hospital stay.

Cardiovascular rehabilitation is based on medically supervised physical activity, provided by specialised physiotherapists. Support and management of cardiovascular risk factors (hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes, excess weight, smoking, stress, physical inactivity) is also provided.

Under the name Cardio-Tour, a phase II cardiovascular rehabilitation programme is provided by the Hôpital de La Tour on an individualised, outpatient basis.

This six-week program aims for patients to recover and even improve their physical capacity and autonomy in order to resume their usual professional and personal activities.

A multidisciplinary teaching is provided (medical, physiotherapeutic and dietary approaches to cardiovascular disease) to enable patients to understand their disease and, to the extent possible, modify their lifestyles to prevent a relapse.

The Cardio-Tour team is headed by Stéphane Zaza & Dominique Fournet, MD. It includes two head doctors, six specialised physiotherapists and a dietician-nutritionist.

At the end of the program, patients can participate in a care and maintenance programme offering sessions of physical activity, twice weekly, under the guidance of physiotherapists and under medical supervision. This takes place within the guidelines of the Association for Cardiovascular Rehabilitation.

The Cardio-Tour program is the perfect complement to the cardiovascular activity of the Hôpital de La Tour.

This program is recognized by the Working Group for Cardiac Rehabilitation of the Swiss Society of Cardiology. It is fully covered by the Swiss health insurances.
