Caring for you as we would for ourselves

Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides specialized, intensive care for premature and full-term babies.

The NICU at Hôpital de La Tour delivers high-quality inpatient care for all newborns, from birth until they are healthy enough to go home. We also provide personal and compassionate support for parents. In addition to our NICU, we are proud to offer neonatal care in our nursery.

Neonatal care

A skilled, multidisciplinary team headed by a senior consultant specializing in neonatal care makes sure your baby receives the best possible care from birth. Experienced and competent pediatricians work alongside 23 midwives and 20 maternity nurses.

Our team is committed to:

  • delivering attentive care to your baby as soon as he or she is born
  • providing you with support and advice
  • ensuring you and your baby receive comprehensive care from a specialized team within an advanced intensive care unit in the event of a medical problem

Why choose Hôpital de La Tour?

Multidisciplinary care

If your baby experiences difficulties at birth, a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists are on hand to help, including:

  • surgeon
  • orthopedic consultant
  • gastroenterologist

The only private maternity unit in Geneva to receive IIA accreditation for neonatal care for premature babies

This accreditation from the Swiss Society of Neonatology means that we can look after babies born from 34 weeks onwards. It also means that babies born from 32 weeks onwards are cared for in our partner facilities (Geneva University Hospitals/Lausanne University Hospital).
This accreditation has been renewed for the next two years, until 2026.

The highest level of care with backup support

We strive to deliver the highest level of care with backup support in place by ensuring pediatricians are available to respond to emergencies and by having experienced medical and care teams provide newborns with neonatal care in accordance with the learning and teaching program from the Swiss Society of Neonatology.
