Born from the vision of three pioneering physicians—Dr. Feuardent, Dr. Hofer, and Dr. Bugmann—to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding region, the hospital was inaugurated on October 22, 1976, in Meyrin, becoming the first hospital on Geneva’s right bank.

Celebrations and Exhibitions
Several events and initiatives will mark this anniversary year, including an open house in November for the general public, offering the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at the hospital and get a glimpse of the future multidisciplinary campus, thereby paying tribute to the staff, caregivers, partner physicians, and patients who have helped shape the institution’s history.

A vision born 50 years ago
Before becoming a leading hospital, Hôpital de la Tour was born out of a vision: to meet the healthcare needs of a rapidly expanding region with high standards and a strong commitment.
In the late 1960s, in response to the lack of medical infrastructure on Geneva’s right bank, a foundation was established to carry out this project. After several years of planning and three years of construction, Hôpital de la Tour was inaugurated on October 22, 1976, in Meyrin, becoming the first hospital on the right bank.

Born out of the commitment of three visionary doctors—Dr. Feuardent, Dr. Hofer, and Dr. Bugmann—the hospital was conceived as a place offering both community-based care and medical excellence, thus embodying, from its very inception, a patient-centered, rigorous, and forward-looking approach to medicine.
For 50 years, Hôpital de La Tour has continuously invested in the development of high-level specialized medical centers, modern infrastructure, and state-of-the-art equipment, as well as in the integration of the latest technological advances. The hospital has also always made it a point of honor to attract medical talent recognized both in Switzerland and internationally.
This vision continues today with the development of the Health Campus in Meyrin, a center dedicated to innovation, medical research, and the training of healthcare professionals.
