The perineum, also called the pelvic floor, is a group of muscles in the pelvis, stretching like a hammock from the pubic bone to the coccyx. These muscles play a very important role in preventing urinary incontinence, supporting the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus and rectum) and improving sex.
