Introductory Course
The patient care internship - a preparatory internship - is intended exclusively for first- and second-year medical students or prospective medical students. It allows them to gain an introduction to the hospital setting by becoming familiar with basic patient care. The goal is to quickly bring future doctors into contact with patients, to help them deepen their interpersonal skills, and to give them the opportunity to assess, through hands-on experience, their ambition to become a doctor. This is a four-week consecutive internship that is mandatory for students at the medical schools in Lausanne, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Bern, Basel, and the ETH Zurich.

AMC “Clinical Training” Internships for 4th/5th-year students (1st/2nd year of the Master's program)
During the AMC Units, students interact with patients and are thus able to put the skills and knowledge they have acquired so far into practice, applying them to the specific clinical context of each specialty. Activities include a variety of types: patient rounds and admissions, on-call duties, as well as seminars and tutorial sessions. Each AMC is covered in a specific handbook that describes in detail the activities and their learning objectives, the schedules, and the names and contact information of all the instructors involved. This teaching format is organized under the supervision of the Master’s Program Committee.
