To create the framework for making our institution’s skills, knowledge, and expertise available in accordance with the training requirements of the <a href="https://www.siwf.ch/fr/">Swiss Institute for Medical Education (ISFM)</a>:

<ul>
	<li><a href="https://www.la-tour.ch/fr/professionnels-de-la-sante/formation/formation-pre-graduee">undergraduate</a></li>
	<li><a href="https://www.la-tour.ch/fr/formations">graduate</a></li>
	<li><a href="https://www.la-tour.ch/fr/professionnels-de-la-sante/formations-continues">continuing education</a></li>
</ul>

in accordance with the Medical Professions Act (<a href="https://www.admin.ch/opc/fr/classified-compilation/20040265/index.html">LPMéd</a>), in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva and the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne. Our objectives:

<ul>
	<li>Assist with the accreditation of new training programs and ensure that all training programs comply with ISFM/FMH requirements.</li>
	<li>Collaborate with external organizations (ISFM, medical schools, etc.)</li>
	<li>Work with program directors to interpret, implement, and enforce ISFM/FMH regulations applicable to the various programs and to physicians in training.</li>
	<li>Interact with program directors and department heads (regarding organization, curriculum, etc.) as well as with junior physicians in training (regarding personal development, ISFM training program requirements, projects, support, etc.).</li>
	<li>Assist with the day-to-day administrative organization of our internal medicine training program, in collaboration with the attending physicians in charge (curriculum, annual planning, application and hiring processes, substitutions, welcoming new residents, monthly and annual evaluations of residents in training).</li>
	<li>Ensure that all our training programs adhere to the highest academic and professional standards using quality indicators.</li>
	<li>Shape, inspire, and accelerate educational activities that significantly improve the training outcomes of each physician (organizing ACLS [Advanced Cardiac Life Support] courses, MKSAP, etc.) in collaboration with the faculty.</li>
	<li>Organize annual events for our physicians in training (graduation ceremonies, farewell receptions, etc.).</li>
	<li>Create and develop our alumni networks (<a href="https://www.la-tour.ch/fr/professionnels-de-la-sante/formation/alumni">La Tour Alumni</a>: events, networking, club)</li>
	<li>Ensure compliance with medical accreditation requirements under the Medical Practice Act (LPMéd) through the <a href="https://www.medregom.admin.ch/">Register of Medical Professions (Med Reg)</a>.</li>
	<li>Grant medical titles in accordance with official ISFM regulations, based on decisions by the legislative body and the cantonal medical officer’s office.</li>
	<li>Verify titles and <a href="https://www.ge.ch/autorisation-pratiquer-profession-sante">rights to practice</a>.</li>

A long tradition

Medical training has always been a top priority at Hôpital de La Tour. Recognizing the importance of medical training in maintaining and continuously improving a healthcare system of excellence, Hôpital de La Tour trains physicians to provide high-quality medical care and ensures the next generation of healthcare professionals and innovation for the future. This commitment to medical training is reflected in its leadership, organizational structure, and resources.

First private training center

As the largest private medical training center in French-speaking Switzerland, we are the second-largest institution providing postgraduate training for physicians in the Canton of Geneva.

We are a teaching hospital for approximately 100 students from the University of Geneva’s Faculty of Medicine, providing them with various clinical rotations during their 2nd, 4th/5th, or 6th year of undergraduate medical training.

Through our continuing education programs, we enable current and future generations of physicians to stay at the forefront of knowledge and skills, while always striving for medical excellence and high-quality care.
