Caring for you as we would for ourselves

La Tour Center for Digestive Diseases

The La Tour Center for Digestive Diseases brings together a group of physicians specializing in abdominal disorders. Our center serves both primary care physicians and specialists who wish to refer a patient for diagnostic or therapeutic care, as well as for a consultation.

The La Tour Center for Digestive Diseases is a multidisciplinary group composed of physicians from La Tour Hospital. Each physician has a specific area of expertise, which enables the group to address the full range of conditions with a very high standard of care. The case reports produced by the Center are summaries based on the opinions of various experts.

Areas of Expertise

The center meets every two weeks to discuss the cases referred to it. It focuses in particular on the areas listed below and all related conditions, including suspected malignant tumors.

The La Tour Center for Digestive Diseases does not replace the Tumor Board, but provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care. In cases of confirmed malignancy, patients will be referred to a dedicated Tumor Board.

  • Esophagus
  • Stomach
  • Small intestine
  • Colon
  • Rectum
  • Liver
  • Biliary tract
  • Pancreas
  • Peritoneal and retroperitoneal disorders
  • Abdominal sarcomas
  • Complex hernias/eventrations
  • Complex bariatric surgery.

How do I report a case?

A registration form is available by clicking on this link.

The deadline for submitting cases is 12:00 p.m. on the day before the meetings.

How can I follow the center's meetings?

The meetings are open to any physician who wishes to attend. They are held in the meeting room of the Radiology Department at Hôpital de La Tour, Building B2, lower ground floor. The meetings are accessible via videoconference. A Zoom link will be sent to you the day before the meetings, along with the list of submitted cases. Whenever possible, a specific time slot will be assigned to each case, so that physicians who wish to do so may participate only in the cases that interest them.

Physicians who register a patient may present the case themselves (in person or via videoconference) or delegate the presentation to one of the center’s members.

Billing

The patient will be billed for a consultation for each visit. It is the responsibility of the physician who registers the case to ensure the patient’s consent. The consultation is covered by mandatory health insurance, but patients without Swiss insurance must pay the full cost.
