As part of a one-day ultrasound (POCUS) training session for pediatricians, Hôpital de La Tour is offering a free screening for congenital hip dislocation for your newborn aged 0 to 6 months. The ultrasound is a simple, painless, and quick exam (10 minutes).
This screening is not routinely performed in French-speaking Switzerland if your child does not have any risk factors (breech presentation or family history). However, hip disorders in infants are common. In Switzerland, two to three out of every 100 newborns have hip dysplasia (congenital dislocation). This condition is caused by a developmental disorder affecting the hip joints.
