We are proud to announce that Dr. Sophie Restellini, a specialist in gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and director of the Crohn’s and Colitis Center at Hôpital de La Tour, has been awarded, as a co-applicant, funding from the National Research Program NRP 83 “Medicine, Health, and Gender” from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
This project is being conducted in collaboration with Valérie Pittet (Unisanté), Joëlle Schwarz (Unisanté), and Irene Maffi (University of Lausanne). They will conduct a major study on the impact of gender on the specialized training of clinicians and on the health of patients with IBD.
In particular, the study will analyze:
- Diagnostic delays by gender
- Differences in treatment choices and their impacts
- Disparities in quality of life between men and women
Thanks to this funding, the team will be able to explore these issues in greater depth and contribute to a more inclusive form of precision medicine tailored to the needs of each patient.
