The treatment involves noninvasively destroying cancer cells using high-energy photon or electron radiation. To minimize side effects, it is important to spare healthy organs and tissues as much as possible and to precisely target the tumor, which is delineated beforehand by the radiation oncologist based on CT, MRI, or PET/CT imaging.
