On February 6, Hôpital de La Tour will inaugurate a new 150-square-meter facility dedicated to interventional cardiology, equipped with the latest technology, aimed at improving the timely treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Although the hospital is already recognized for its expertise in this field, this new facility will expand its range of electrophysiology procedures, particularly for treating complex tachycardias, accessory pathway ablations, atrial fibrillation, and atrial tachycardias, as well as the implantation of cardiac devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, and resynchronization devices).
STATE-OF-THE-ART EQUIPMENT FOR OPTIMAL PATIENT CARE
The suite, integrated into the operating room complex, is equipped with cutting-edge technology for clinicians. It features a multi-screen graphics display and a mapping system that enables 3D visualization of the areas to be treated. This provides cardiologists with instant visualization, optimizing every procedure. This suite also enables structural interventional cardiology procedures, such as heart valve repair and the implantation of intracardiac prostheses. The equipment, including image fusion technology, enables even more precise procedures. All procedures will be performed under strict aseptic conditions that meet operating room standards, thereby ensuring optimal patient safety
COMFORT, SAFETY, AND EFFICIENCY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PATIENT
The opening of a new suite allows for better patient flow management and streamlines all care provided by the angiography department. “The department’s activity has increased by 21% over three years; the two existing suites were at full capacity,” explains Olivier Schmitt, CEO. By treating patients as quickly as possible, there has been a significant reduction in length of stay, thereby optimizing patient care across all cardiac procedures. Furthermore, these new, modern facilities promote patient comfort and relaxation, offering an optimal experience within the hospital.
INVESTMENT IN CONTINUING EDUCATION
To ensure ongoing excellence in care, Hôpital de La Tour has also invested in the training of paramedical staff by funding the completion of five university diplomas (DU) in rhythmology over the past six years. This initiative strengthens the collective expertise of the healthcare teams.
A SOLUTION TO OPTIMIZE INTERVENTIONAL ACTIVITIES
By relieving pressure on the other interventional suites, this new suite will also enable the development of complex interventional radiology procedures in the digestive system (Drs. Terraz and Morere) and the vascular system (Drs. Morere and Gemayel). Hôpital de La Tour is also recognized as a center of excellence for the placement of fenestrated stents, solidifying its position as a leader in the field of specialized procedures. Because every heartbeat deserves excellence, Hôpital de La Tour continues to make innovation a cornerstone of its commitment to heart health.
