On the evening of Thursday, June 20, we brought together our physicians with the management and executive team at Hôpital de La Tour for an informational session. This session gave us the opportunity to outline La Tour’s strategic priorities and share financial metrics on our operations, as well as the progress of key projects. The evening concluded with a relaxed get-together for everyone, accompanied by music.

My background in the pharmaceutical and medtech sectors, where I held international leadership roles, has allowed me to observe, on a large scale, the most remarkable success stories among healthcare institutions. The common thread among these successes is, without exception, placing the patient at the center of the institution’s concerns and making medical excellence a top priority. These principles seem very intuitive because, ultimately, the most successful products across all sectors of the economy come from companies that put their customers at the heart of their thinking.

It therefore seems appropriate to ask the following question: What are the top priorities among our patients’ expectations? Or to ask ourselves: What do we want when we ourselves are patients or when a loved one is? To travel less than 15 minutes for a once-in-a-lifetime surgery? To enjoy an exceptional dinner? Or rather, to have the assurance that our long-term quality of life will be restored as fully as possible? Of course, we all have an immediate answer to this question.

It is on this basis that we at La Tour have defined medical excellence as our top priority. We have begun working with several of our physicians to develop metrics for measuring our performance with a focus on the outcomes that matter most to patients. It is by adopting a self-critical perspective that this effort will bear its full fruit, particularly the opportunity for continuous improvement—the key to success in all other sectors of the economy.

This is a promising project that commits us both medically and culturally, and for which we will mobilize all necessary resources.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer,
