- Biometric data such as medical imaging data or laboratory test results.
- Genetic data resulting from the analysis of biological samples.

In certain cases, however, the Hospital may act as a data processor, meaning that it processes personal data on behalf of another data controller. This may occur where the Hospital provides specialised services to an external partner (for example, medical or administrative services) on the basis of a mandate or service agreement. In such situations, the Hospital does not act in its own name, but in accordance with the instructions of the relevant data controller.
Purpose of the data processing
Your data are processed (collected, recorded, used and stored) on the basis of the medical treatment contract or applicable legal provisions, in order to achieve the purpose of medical treatment and fulfil the related obligations. The data are collected by healthcare professionals or administrative staff in the context of your care.
We also receive data from other physicians and healthcare professionals who are or have been involved in your treatment, provided that you have consented to such transmission.
All processed data are related to your medical follow-up. They are recorded in your patient file and may include your personal and administrative data (identity, contact details, insurance information), as well as medical information relevant to your treatment, such as your medical history, clinical observations, diagnoses, therapeutic proposals or examination results.
Legal basis
The processing activities described in this Notice are based on your consent, collected through the consent declaration signed at the time of your admission. This consent constitutes the legal basis enabling Hôpital de La Tour to collect, use and retain the data necessary for your medical care, in compliance with applicable legal provisions.
Your data may also be used to pursue our legitimate interests, including ensuring the safety of our staff and patients, fraud detection, debt recovery, and the investigation of complaints received from you or third parties.
Mandatory nature of data collection
The provision of certain personal data is mandatory, as it conditions Hôpital de La Tour’s ability to provide safe, appropriate healthcare services in compliance with medical and legal requirements.
The creation of your medical record requires the processing of essential data for your care, such as your personal and administrative information, medical history, anamnesis, diagnoses and examination results obtained during your treatment.
Without this information, healthcare professionals would be unable to properly assess your clinical situation, prevent medical risks, ensure the safety of care, or comply with their legal and professional obligations. Failure to provide such data may therefore prevent the Hospital from delivering necessary care or compromise the quality and safety of your treatment. Only data strictly necessary to achieve these purposes are collected.
For any processing not covered by this Notice, you will be informed in advance of the applicable terms, and your consent will be obtained for such specific processing activities.
Data disclosure
To ensure your care, the personal data collected by Hôpital de La Tour are primarily processed internally by the healthcare professionals responsible for your treatment, as well as by the administrative departments managing the resources necessary for your care.
However, in order to ensure efficient, coordinated and comfortable care, certain data may be disclosed to external recipients where strictly necessary for the provision of services related to your care pathway or the management of your stay. Such transfers are limited to what is strictly necessary and relate only to the services identified in the table below.
Furthermore, any transfer of data carried out in connection with optional services, such as communication or business development activities, will only take place on the basis of your specific, separately collected and entirely voluntary consent. Your access to care will never be conditional upon acceptance of such optional processing.

If you inform us that you are affiliated with an organisation or institution with which we have a partnership agreement, we may share aggregated statistics with that organisation. These statistics include the number of patients admitted under the partnership but contain no information that could personally identify you. We do not share your personal or medical data within the framework of a partnership. International data transfers
Your personal data are primarily processed and stored in Switzerland. However, for certain specific services, it may be necessary to transfer certain information abroad. Where personal data are transferred internationally, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards recognised under applicable law, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, in order to ensure a level of protection equivalent to that applicable in Switzerland.
Retention period
In accordance with our legal obligations, your data are retained for the statutory retention periods, calculated from the end of your relationship with Hôpital de La Tour.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification and data portability. You are also entitled, at any time, to request restriction of the processing of your data, to object to such processing, or to request erasure of your data. You may also provide instructions regarding the fate of your personal data in the event of your death.
The scope and nature of these rights may vary depending on the legislation applicable at your place of residence. Where a limitation applies to the exercise of one of these rights, Hôpital de La Tour will provide a detailed justification explaining the reasons for such limitation.
Withdrawal of your consent
Your consent may be withdrawn at any time, in whole or in part, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to the withdrawal on the basis of your initial consent. Withdrawal must be made in writing.
However, a request for erasure does not automatically result in deletion, as healthcare professionals are legally required to retain medical data. Consequently, deletion of your data by the healthcare professional responsible for your treatment will only occur in exceptional and duly justified circumstances, upon confirmed cancellation. In such a case, you release the healthcare professional from their statutory retention obligation.
These rights may be exercised by contacting the department responsible for confidentiality by post or by email at confidentalite@latour.ch and/or directly with each professional recipient of your data. In the event of a violation of your rights, you may lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
