Dr. Pouya Iranmanesh is an FMH-certified specialist in surgery and visceral surgery, with expertise focused on the treatment of obesity, whether surgical or medical.
After 15 years in academia and a specialization in digestive and visceral surgery, Dr. Iranmanesh decided to devote himself to his patients in private practice. During those years, he developed a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery—especially robotic surgery—as well as obesity surgery (bariatric surgery) and gastroesophageal reflux surgery (anti-reflux surgery). His stays abroad, particularly in the United States and Canada, have allowed him to gain extensive experience in these fields.
In addition to this work, he has been active in clinical research for many years at the various institutions where he has worked, notably the Geneva University Hospitals, publishing some thirty articles in national and international journals.
Wishing to maintain a connection with the academic community, he remains a 20% associate physician in the Department of Visceral Surgery at the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), so that he can continue to collaborate, particularly on the most complex cases of bariatric surgery. With his title of Privat-Docent, he also continues to teach at the Geneva Faculty of Medicine, leading courses and serving as a thesis advisor for Master’s students.
In terms of professional membership, he is a member of several national and international associations in the field of abdominal surgery and holds the title of “Fellow of the American College of Surgeons” (FACS). He is also a member of the central committee of the Swiss Society for the Treatment of Obesity (SMOB).
