Caring for you as we would for ourselves

Nephrology

Nephrology specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the kidneys. Kidney disease may be primary, such as glomerulonephritis, or secondary to a systemic disease, such as diabetes or high blood pressure (hypertension).

Dialysis filters waste products and excess fluid in the blood through a semi-permeable membrane using a special liquid called dialysate.

Patients may require temporary dialysis treatment for minor loss of kidney function or permanent dialysis support for complete kidney failure. This care involves establishing an accurate diagnosis and then introducing treatments to slow or stop the progression of the disease.

Multidisciplinary care

Appointments are also available for dialysis patients who are travelling in the region, so that they can continue their treatment while away from home.
