GLA:D® Physical Therapy Workshop for Osteoarthritis

Do you have hip or knee osteoarthritis? The GLA:D® program helps you reduce pain and move with greater confidence through guided exercises and personalized advice.

Osteoarthritis is a common joint condition that affects the cartilage. It can cause pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility, particularly in the knee and hip.

Contrary to popular belief, movement is a key part of treatment, which is why we offer a GLA:D® physical therapy program specifically designed for this condition.

What is the GLA:D® program?

The GLA:D® program is a structured physical therapy workshop specifically designed for people with knee or hip osteoarthritis.

It is based on:

  • Supervised exercise sessions
     
  • Therapeutic education sessions
     
  • Individualized follow-up
     
  • An approach validated by scientific research

The objectives:

  • Reduce pain
  • Improve joint function
  • Restore confidence in movement

How does the workshop work?

  • 1. Individual sessions (initial assessment): 3 sessions with a physical therapist
    – Building B2, Physical Therapy Department
    – Duration: 30 minutes each
    – Comfortable clothing recommended
    – Lockers available (1 or 2 CHF coin).

  • 2. Therapeutic Education Sessions (ETP): 2 sessions to understand osteoarthritis and learn how to manage pain
    – Building B2, 2nd floor
    – Duration: 1 hour
    – No special attire required.

  • 3. Group exercise sessions: 12 sessions led by a physical therapist
    – Salle des Vergers
    – Duration: 1 hour each
    – Athletic wear recommended
    – No changing rooms on site.

  • 4. Final individual session (follow-up): 1 session with a physical therapist
    – Building B2, Physical Therapy Department
    – Duration: 30 minutes
    – Comfortable clothing recommended
    – Lockers available (1 or 2 CHF coin).

Who is it for?

This workshop is intended for people who:

  • Have osteoarthritis of the hip and/or knee
     
  • Experience persistent pain or limited function

A preliminary evaluation by a doctor is required.

Practical Information

  • Prescription: Two prescriptions for nine sessions will be required in order to complete your file and submit the invoice to your insurance company.
